Boardroom Book Club

How It Works:

Approximately 3 or 4 times per year, we’ll announce a new Boardroom Book Club session about one month in advance, along with the name of the book we’ll be discussing.

This book discussion group is only for employees of The Caton Companies.

Participation is 100% voluntary.

Time spent in Boardroom Book Club meetings is off-the-clock. In other words, time spent in a book discussion meeting should not be part of your paid productive work day. Our lunchtime discussions will last about one (1) hour. The idea is to eat your lunch while enjoying an invigorating book discussion.

Participants must coordinate with their managers in advance to ensure that participation on the day/time of the book discussion will be permitted at their workplace.

Acquiring the books used for the Boardroom Book Club will be solely the responsibility of the participant and will not be eligible for reimbursement.

Employees who participate in the Boardroom Book Club are expected to:

  • Read the book being discussed in its entirety before the discussion meeting.
  • Be prepared for discussion:  provide thoughts, questions, passages, and examples that may be meaningful for other participants.  Keep good notes or highlights while you read.
  • Have your camera ON throughout the book discussion meeting and be free from on- or off-camera distractions.
  • Be respectful and listen to others during the book discussion.
  • Stay on topic and be open to and respectful of the opinions of others.
  • Be punctual for the scheduled discussion and ensure technology issues don’t interfere with the discussion.
  • Have fun and grow through lively and interactive discussions with your colleagues.
